I look at how all areas of your life -nutrition and lifestyle- are connected. As we work together, we will determine the different parts of your life that affect your health as a whole.

I practice Functional Medicine, which focuses on finding the cause and root of the health concern and create individualize plans for my clients.

My approach does not create lists of restrictions or good and bad foods. Instead, I work with my clients to create a happy, healthy life in a way that is flexible, fun, rewarding and make long lasting changes.

I am specialized in nutrition for people with important digestive and immune system disorders. I struggled during more than 15 years with gastrointestinal problems. I suffered of abdominal bloating, gas, constipation, heartburn and Helicobacter pylori and Candida infection. I tried different approaches like natural laxatives, artificial fiber, antibiotics to get rid of the bacteria...........none of them worked and increased my symptoms. After many years living with them, I finally decided to do something else and went to the nutritionist who put me in a gluten and dairy free diet. My constipation got better but it did not improve my other symptoms. Going gluten free is not the only way to feel better. Sometimes is even worse because we start eating a lot of processed gluten free products that substitute gluten for sugar, which feeds the bad bacteria in our gut. Finally, I decided to study Integrative nutrition and, together with my scientific background, I found the way to heal myself with a healthy diet and lifestyle changes. I never felt better in my life! It has improved the way my body feels and how I feel about myself.

The digestive system is like the second brain of the body, if the digestion fails everything fails. Serious digestive problems participate in the following symptoms/disorders/diseases and many people didn't even know they are connected:

  • Abdominal pain

  • Bloating

  • Heartburn

  • Constipation/Diarrhea

  • Food allergies and sensitivities

  • Skin conditions

  • Craving for sugar

  • Nutritional deficiencies

  • Changes in weight

  • Obesity

  • Sleep deprivation

  • Chronic fatigue

  • Lack of Energy

  • Hormone imbalance

  • Chronic infections

  • Systemic candida infection

  • Early aging

  • Addiction

  • Headaches/Migraines

  • Memory loss

  • Mood disorders

  • Autism

  • Anxiety

  • Autoimmune diseases

  • Weak immune system

  • Association with other diseases: Fibromyalgia, cardiovascular/metabolic syndrome, liver/GI cancer

The way we eat and the way we live condition our digestive and immune system (70% of the immune system is in the digestive system). Different factors including chronic stress, poor diet, hormones, medication, yeast or lack of minerals are some of the factors that induce what is called leaky gut syndrome. The first problem we have is concerning poor digestion due to damaged gut wall and abnormal microbiome (90% of the cells of our body are the microorganisms living in the digestive tract). When food is not digested properly, it creates “traces of food” that are unknown to our body, causing the immune system in our gut  to react to them and develop what we call food allergy and sensitivity.

The indigested food molecules, yeast, toxins, molecules release by the immune system and other forms of waste pass through the damage gut wall to the bloodstream. All these agents will go to the different tissues in our body causing the development of different conditions mentioned above.

I understand how uncomfortable is the feeling of having your belly so bloated every single day without knowing why? You might feel hungry but you do not feel like eating because you are so big. You do not even feel like dressing nicely or being social or staying up late with friends. So it does affect your social life!

The main approach to restoring health (body and mind) is to heal the digestive distress! It is important to take action and make good choices in nutrition and lifestyle to restore the intestinal barrier dysfunction, immune system and microbiome. I focus on each person concerns with the following program:

  • Remove the food that triggers inflammation or other problem with a elimination diet. Remove the bad bacteria, yeast or parasite

  • Replace enzymes and Hidrocloric acid to improve digestion

  • Reinoculate the good microbiome

  • Restore the lining of the gut

Following these 4 steps will drastically reduce the symptoms or disorders that stop you from having a normal day life and will improve your health! Apart from reducing or eliminating the symptoms, you will be aware of the value of food that you should or should not continue including in your diet, and how to plan your meals better even if you do not have much time to cook.

Other concepts that we will explore during our work together:

Bio-individuality™: The concept of bio-individuality is that each person has unique food and lifestyle needs. One person’s food is another person’s poison, and that’s why fad diets tend to fail in the long run. Working on the principle of bio-individuality, I’ll support you to make positive changes that are based on your unique needs, lifestyle, preferences, and ancestral background. I use a personalized, holistic approach to ensure that you will have great success!

Primary Food™: It’s easy to overlook all of the things that contribute to our sense of nourishment and fulfillment. It’s not just the food we eat, but all of the other factors present in our daily lives. Healthy relationships, a fulfilling career, regular physical activity and a spiritual awareness are essential forms of nourishment. When these “primary foods” are balanced, what you eat becomes secondary. I will support you in achieving all of your goals, from eating the right foods for your body to living an inspired, fulfilling life.

Integrative Nutrition™ Plate: The Integrative Nutrition Plate emphasizes the importance of local and organic produce, whole grains, high-quality proteins, plant-based fats, and water. It shows you how a plate should appear at mealtime and emphasizes the importance of proportions and portion size. To complete the picture, the plate is surrounded with lifestyle factors that create optimal health: relationship, career, physical activity and spirituality. I’ll introduce you to some of the healthiest foods on the planet and teach you how to find what’s healthiest for your unique body!

As we work together, you’ll develop a deeper understanding of the food and lifestyle choices that work best for you and successfully implement lasting changes that will improve your digestion system, energy, balance and health.
